John J. “Jack” Rose age 89 of Penn Twp. passed away on Saturday December 6, 2014 in the Weatherwood Manor Greensburg. Jack was born on June 11, 1925 in Cresson the son of the late John W. and Elizabeth (Rocus) Rose. Jack was a veteran of WWII serving with the US Navy. He served in the American, European and Pacific Theaters and was awarded the European, Pacific and American Theater Ribbon and the Philippine Liberation Ribbon and Victory Medal. He was a member of the American Legion Post #174 in Gallitzin for 70 years. He retired from Elliot Co. in Jeannette after 36 years of service and was a member of the St. Regis Church in Trafford. Jack was preceded in death by his wife Margie (Risbon) Rose in 2010 and his two grandsons Jonathan Sabol and Stephen Rennekamp. Jack is survived by his two daughters Elizabeth “Betty” Rennekamp (Steve) of Murrysville and Margery “Margie” Sabol (Donny) of Greensburg; his grandchildren Donnie Darragh (Chrissy), Jennifer Layton (William), Bethany Klosky (Justin) and his deceased grandson’s wife Darcy Sabol and; his 12 great-grandchildren Stephen, Tanner, Cole, Ellie, Alison, Paige, Paul, Elias, Connor, Morgan, Willow Rose and Finley and his brother Paul R. Tina Rebich, 78, of Trafford, passed away Saturday, Dec. 6, 2014, in the Forbes Regional Hospital Monroeville. Tina was born June 17, 1936, in Crucible, a daughter of the late Mellos (Miljus) and Anna (Evosevich) Krewasky. Tina was a member of the St. Nicholas Serbian Orthodox Church, Monroeville. She was a member of the church board serving as vice-president, an officer of the St. Nicholas Jr. Tamburitzans, a Sunday School teacher and a member of St. Petka Kolo. Tina retired as an assistant with the district magistrate in Harrison City with more than 30 years of service. She also was a 1954 graduate of the Cumberland Township High School and a National Honor Society Member. Tina is survived by her husband of 57 years, Dushan “Dan” Rebich; her two sons, Daniel (Laurie) Rebich, of New Freedom, and David (Ruthann) Rebich, of Ashburn, Va.; her four grandchildren, Alexander, Adam, Elizabeth and Peter Rebich; her brother, Milos Krewasky (longtime friend, Josephine Gresko), of Carmichaels; and many aunts, uncles and cousins. Kathleen Marie “Kathy” Petrovich age 71 of White Oak passed away on Wednesday December 3, 2014 in her home. Kathy was born on January 5, 1943 in Versailles Borough the daughter of the late Stephen and Anna (Vabich) Horvatincic. Kathy was the adored, loving and faithful wife and companion of Daniel N. Petrovich for over 46 years. She is also survived by her siblings Louise Clevenger (the late Eugene) of Philadelphia, Florence Penick (the late Al) of Sutersville, Steve Horvatincic (Margaret) of Sherwood AR, Dr. James V. Horvatincic, DOC (Sandy) of White Oak; her sister-in-law Ida Horvatincic of Philadelphia (oldest brother John (Horvat) Horvatincic deceased) and numerous nieces and nephews. Kathy was preceded in death by her. Kathy was a member of the St. Nicholas Serbian Orthodox Church Monroeville and served on the Outreach Committee since the committee’s origination; she was a 1960 graduate of McKeesport HS and worked after high school in the former GC Murphy Co in McKeesport. She then worked for US Steel Clairton Works. Kathy was a life member of the CFU Lodge 146 of Versailles and a dancing member of Chi Chi’s Kola Dancing Group for many years. Kathy and Dan were the true essence of “love” between a husband and wife and will be greatly missed. Ruth (Coates) Battenhouse, 93, of Level Green, died Friday, Nov. 21, 2014. She was the daughter of Thomas R. and Bess Beveridge Coates. She was past matron of Braddock’s Field Chapter No. 75, Scottish Rite Women’s Club of Pittsburgh, Daughters of the Nile No. 48, member of Pittsburgh Glass Club, and the Organ Society of Pittsburgh. She was also a member of the Community United Methodist Church of Harrison City and the Murrysville Garden Club. She was a past mother advisor of Level Green Assembly No. 125, Order of the Rainbow for Girls. She had many years of community service, including volunteering at the Level Green Presbyterian Church, the VA hospital of Pittsburgh, Friends Thrift Store, and Meals on Wheels. She was preceded in death by John M. Battenhouse, her husband of 57 years, in 2001. She is survived by two sons, Jack W. (Sharon), of Level Green, and Thomas R. (Shelby), of Anderson, S.C.; four grandchildren, Thomas (Carrie) Battenhouse, of Stow, Ohio, Jennifer (Christian) Stoecklein, of South Fayette, Janet Battenhouse, of Level Green, and Holly (Brian) Tillman, of Mt. Pleasant, S.C.; and seven great-grandchildren, Margaret, Sophia, Eric and Jason Battenhouse, and Elizabeth, Caroline and Stephanie Stoecklein. Carmen R. “Millie” Grande, 94, of Trafford died Saturday, November 22, 2014. He was the son of Pasquale and Theresa Rosella Grande. He was a WWII Army Air Corps veteran as well as an usher and a member of the Knights of Columbus at St. Regis Catholic Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Helen August Grande, and his brothers Dominic, Anthony, Joseph, and Francis Grande. He is survived by his children, Gary Grande, Karen (Tom) Mercalde, Theresa (Jim) McCarron, Susan (Michael) Oriolo, Liz (Bob) Thompson, and Rich (Sierra) Grande; A sister, Gloria Drost; and six grandchildren, Brandon and Megan McCarron, Nicole and Natalie Thompson, Nathan Sneith and Steven Grande. Margaret L. “Peg” Whitfield age 90 of Trafford passed away on Sunday, November 9, 2014 in Manor Care of Monroeville. Peg was born on July 9, 1924 in Braddock the daughter of the late Albert and Blanche (Fix) Hensel. Peg was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church Trafford, the Eastern Star, an avid bingo and Pnuckle player and loved to do puzzles. Peg was called Grandma Bubbles by her great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents Peg was preceded in death by her first husband Regis Walter and her second husband Charles Whitfield; her brother Richard Hensel and two sisters Nonie House and Martha Argall. Peg is survived by her children David Regis Walter of Cranberry, Betsy Wasko (Joe) of Penn Twp., Bill Walter (Cheryl) of N. Gary Stephen Duga age 63 of Level Green passed away on Friday, November 7, 2014. Gary was born on September 1, 1951 in Wilkinsburg the son of the late Martin and Ellen (Hopkins) Duga. Gary loved his family and was a good friend to all who knew him. He was like a father figure to his nieces and nephews. Elizabeth Ann “Tiz” Pioth age 93 of Trafford passed away peacefully with family by her side on Saturday November 8, 2014 in her home. Tiz was born on March 22, 1921 in Wilkinsburg the daughter of the late Oscar J. and Edna (Peterson) Murphy. Tiz was a longtime and active member of the Trinity United Methodist Church Trafford, a member of the Trafford American Legion Auxiliary, the Trafford Sr. Citizens and the Trafford Lions Club and was a dance teacher for 45 years. Tiz was very fond of her pets Shannon and Baby. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert J. Pioth Sr. in 1985, her son Robert J. Pioth Jr. in 2011 and wife Karol A. Pioth in 2009 and her two brothers William O. and Charles R. Murphy. Tiz is survived by her grandchildren John R. “Rob” Pioth (Norma) of Monroeville and Tracy Christner (Tim Stanko) of St. Petersburg FL; her three great-grandchildren Adam Christner, Cameron and Miranda Pioth and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews.
