Lillian Panaro

Lillian Panaro age 81 formerly of Plum died Sunday, December 30, 2012 in Manor Care, Monroeville.  Lillian was born on November 27, 1931 in Spangler the daughter of the late Stephen and Anna Malisa Smarsh.  As a woman of strong Christian Faith, she lived her life serving our Lord as a loving wife and mother of 11 children.  Her family was always her first priority, and her greatest accomplishment was raising her children to know the importance of God, family values and country.  Her gentle, loving kindness was felt by all in need.  Lillian was preceded in death by her husband Anthony Panaro in 1991 and a brother Stephen Smarsh.  Lillian is survived by her sons Terry (Kathy) of Saxonburg, Mark (Nelia) of Murrysville, Shawn of Mars, Gene (Lisa) of Verona, Joel (Reagan) of Plum, Jason (Jackie) of Ohio and daughters Toni Evans Presley (Marty) of Delaware, Diana Bartakovich (Ed) of Trafford, Carol Gresock (John) of Punxsutawney, Cheryl Kozar (John) of Level Green and Loraine Garofolo (Rob) of Monroeville; 30 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren; a brother Joseph Smarsh of New Castle and two sisters Margaret Morris of Plum and Janet Krug (Dalvin) of Columbia.  Family & friends will be received on Thursday from 2-8 PM in the John M. Evelyn “Liza” Altman Lanatti

Evelyn “Liza” Altman Lanatti age 89 of Level Green died Saturday, December 22, 2012 in the Woodhaven Care Center, Monroeville.  Liza was born in Paintertown the daughter of the late William Preston and Katherine Newill Altman.  Liza was retired from the Penn-Trafford School District as a custodian and was a member of the Level Green Presbyterian Church.  She was preceded in death by her husband Joseph H. Lanatti, a daughter Connielee Roberto and is the last surviving member of her deceased siblings Jay Sr. , Paul, Dorsey, William “Poot”, Charles and Thomas Altman and a sister Nelda Tray.  She is survived by her son Dino Lanatti and Fiancé Diane Mrazik of Orlando FL; grandchildren Annamarie Roberto of Monroeville, Jodi Roberto of Verona; great-grandchildren Joseph Roberto-Hankins and Cheyenee Roberto-Hankins of Verona.  Family and friends will be received from 2-4 & 6- 8 PM on Thursday in the John M. Dorothy J. Novak

Dorothy J. Novak age 83 of Trafford died Wednesday, December 19, 2012 in the Golden Living Center, Murrysville.  Dorothy was born on September 5, 1929 in Rankin the daughter of the late William and Anna Law Jarrett.  Dorothy was a member of the Christian Life Church Trafford.  She worked at the former Trafford Supermarket and was a care giver.  She was the first woman to be elected to the Trafford Council.  She was one of the founding members of the Trafford Emergency Medical Service and was qualified as an EMT at 50 Years old.  Dorothy is survived by her husband of 63 years John A. Novak, her son Marty Novak and wife Bette of Trafford; two brothers Charles Jarrett of Slippery Rock and Sherman Jarrett of Cleveland OH and a sister Gloria Jarrett of Phoenix, AZ; many nieces and nephews and she was preceded in death by a brother William Jarrett and a sister Agnes Buyny.  Family & friends will be received on Sunday from 2-4 & 6-8 PM in the John M. William R. Snyder Jr.

William R. Snyder Jr. age 82 of Level Green died Monday, December 17, 2012 in his home.  William was born on April 24, 1930 in Toledo, OH the son of the late William R. and Helen Pfaff Snyder.  William was a graduate of University of Pittsburgh with a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering. He then entered the Navy and served his country during the Korean War and was discharged as an Lieutenant Junior Grade after serving with the Reserves.  He then attended Carnegie Tech and earned his Master’s in Mechanical Engineering.  William retired from Westinghouse Energy Center in Monroeville after 30 years of service.  He was an active member of the St. Regis Church Trafford.  William is survived by his wife of 55 years Veronica J. Miedlar Snyder; his children William R. III, Gary, Carol, James and Janet Snyder.  William was preceded in death by a brother Robinson Snyder. Karla Marie McWilliams

Karla Marie McWilliams, age 29, of Level Green went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, November 20, 2012.  Karla was born May 21, 1983 in Monroeville, the daughter of Samuel R. and Rita Nock McWilliams. A life-long resident of Level Green, she graduated from Penn-Trafford High School in 2001 and attended Westmoreland County Community College where she earned an Associate’s Degree in Health and Human Services in 2003.  Karla worked for Mental Health America with its Quality Assurance Team. With sparkling blue eyes and a broad smile, Karla became an accomplished model, a skill she learned at the John Casablanca Modeling Agency.  She also was a client of the Docherty Model and Talent Agency in Pittsburgh.  Karla loved animals, gardening and the outdoors.  She was full of life and fun – lively and talkative, a friend to many and especially great with kids. She touched many souls in her short life, and she will be missed and remembered by all who knew and loved her. Wallace Larry Schoemaker

Wallace Larry Schoemaker age 64 of Penn Twp. passed Thursday, November 8 2012 in the UPMC East, Monroeville.  Wallace was born on April 4, 1948 in Miami, FL the son of the late Raymond Elias Schoemaker, and Jean Laverne (Schoemaker) Cadlerone.  Wallace served with the US Marine Corps as a SGT during the Vietnam War and retired from the Marines.  After serving his country he worked for and retired from the Civil Service Commission.  He was a member of the St. Barbara Church, Harrison City, the Greensburg VFW Post 33 and a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans. Wallace was preceded in death by a brother Tony Calderone, and a sister Jenny Partington.  He is survived by his wife of 35 years Mary E. Brown Schoemaker, his children Aaron Schoemaker and wife Jennifer of TX, Nancy Schoemaker and fiancé Derek Carnline of Penn Twp., his beloved grandson Hunter Carnline; a brother Philip Calderone of GA, and seven sisters Myrt Calderone of AL, Jo Setters of OH, Toni Sydor of FL, Schan Bodnar of TX, Karen Fulton of TN, Germaine Reynolds of GA, and Kim Calderone of NC.  Family & friends will be received on Sunday from 2-4 & 6-8 PM in the John M. Violet Vuick Herko

Violet Vuick Herko age 93 of Johnstown, formerly of Trafford died Friday, November 2, 2012 in the Windber Medical Center, Windber.  Violet was born on December 16, 1918 in Wall the daughter of the late Stanko “John” and Catherine “Kata” Jurich Vuick.  Violet worked at the Cambria Savings Bank in Johnstown and was a receptionist for Mercy Hospital in Johnstown.  She was a member of Christ the Savior Cathedral in Johnstown.  She had a kind and generous heart to all who knew her.  She was preceded in death by her sisters Mildred Tarbuck and Stella “Kikki” Vuick; brothers John, Mike, Miller and George Vuick.  Violet is survived by her loving husband Aleck Herko, and many nieces and nephews and other family members.  Family and friends will be received on Tuesday from 2-4 & 6-8 PM in the John M. Mildred R. Paich Zyhowski

Mildred R. Zhyowski age 91 formerly of Trafford died Saturday, October 27, 2012 in Arden Court, Ross Twp.  Mildred was born on February 15, 1921 in Trafford the daughter of the late Michael and Anna Krutysza Piach.  Mildred was a member of the St. Regis Church, Trafford and was a graduate of Trafford High School class of 1938.   Mildred worked as a cashier in the Trafford Middle School Cafeteria for several years and was a former volunteer at the Forbes Regional Hospital in Monroeville.  Mildred was preceded in death by her husband Chester A. Zyhowski in 2006, a daughter Janet Zyhowski and a brother Don Paich.  Mildred is survived by her son Greg Zyhowski and wife Terry and her grandson Gregory M. Zyhowski all of Shaler Twp.; two sisters Martha Krotz of Columbus, OH and Virginia Wagner of Easley, SC.  Family and friends will be received from 2-4 & 6-8 PM on Tuesday in the John M. Vincent Alban Holden

Vincent Alban Holden of Monroeville, formerly of Level Green died Sunday, October 28, 2012 in the Independence Court, Monroeville.  Vincent was born on September 29, 1916 in West Newton the son of the late Vincent J. and Elsie Taylor Holden.  Vincent was a veteran of WWII serving with the US Army Air Corps.  He was a weatherman as an enlisted soldier and then became a 1st Lt. and Navigated a B-17 Bomber Airplane with the 8th Air Force.  He flew and completed 34 Missions over Rhineland, Ardennes and Central Europe.  He received the Air Medal with four Oak Leaf Clusters and the European African Middle Eastern Medal with Three Battle Stars for his valor and service.  When Vincent entered an airplane, he said to his crew of nine, “Never Fear…Holden’s Here!!  He Said “This always made the crew feel better.”  After the military he worked for and retired from Westinghouse in the East Pittsburgh and Churchill Offices with the Patent Department.  He was an active member of the Manor American Legion Carl Leroy McKelvey Post 472. Vincent was preceded in death by his wife Virginia Elizabeth Ayres Holden in 2011 and four brothers James, Novello, Dallas and Regis Holden.  Vincent is survived by nieces and nephews and a special friend Ron Scarano.  Family & friends will be received on Thursday from 10:30 AM until the time of a blessing service at 12 Noon in the John M.
