Beatrice Monsour Davis

DavisBeatrice Monsour Davis, beloved wife of David L. Davis of blessed memory, passed into eternal life on Sunday, February 2, one week shy of her 99th birthday,  in her adopted home of Naples, Florida. She was the cherished mother of Samuel and Marcia Davis, Archpriest Joseph and Diane Shaheen, and Laila Corey. Her love and devotion to her grandchildren was boundless:  Just ask Rebecca and Richard Cosentino, Joseph and Maria Shaheen and Philip Shaheen; George and Lucy Corey; David and Megan Corey; Michael and Grisel Corey and Jonathan Corey and Meghan; Christopher and Suzanne Davis and Jennifer Davis. She was Grammy to: Gabrielle, Laurence, Frederique, and Lucas Cosentino; Matthew and Augusten Corey, William and Adeline Davis, and Michael and Marc Padro.  Beatrice was predeceased by her siblings:  Edward, Peter, Paul, and Everett Monsour; Caroline Ayoub and Catherine Shogry.  Beatrice and her family were devoted members of the Saint George Antiochian Orthodox Cathedral Oakland.   There will be a viewing at the church located on the corner of the Blvd. of the Allies and Dawson Street in Oakland on Friday from 10 AM  until the Orthodox Christian Funeral Service at 12 Noon.  The Dean of the Cathedral, Rev. Father Demetrios Makoul and Archpriest Joseph Shaheen will preside.  The family, fulfilling the wishes of the servant of God, Beatrice, request that in lieu of flowers, donations in her memory can be made to Saint George Cathedral. Richard “Dick” McCurdy

McCurdyRichard “Dick” McCurdy of North Huntingdon, PA passed away peacefully at the seasoned age of 85, at his residence on Wednesday, January 29, 2014, from “a long-term battle with emphysema”.  Richard was born on January 30, 1928 in Wilmerding, PA.  He was a blessing to his mother, Marion Christopher, his stepfather, Cyril Christopher, and his stepsister, Sharon Christopher, of East McKeesport, PA.  He graduated from Westinghouse High School and thereafter proudly served in the U.S. Navy during WWII.  His marriage to Olive J. (Warden), on October 9, 1948, was amongst his fondest of memories.  Richard then established a career as a Payroll Auditor for Fisher Body, General Motors Division, in West Mifflin, PA.  He enjoyed reading, hunting, fishing, and traveling in his free time.  Lancaster County and Sanibel Island were his two favorite destinations.  Those who knew him enjoyed listening to his vast knowledge of history and politics along with his personal experiences, which often incorporated humor.  Richard was passionate about completing small projects, working outdoors, and spending time with his family and friends.  He was long-standing member of the Trafford American Legion Post 331 and took pride in extending ongoing support to the U.S. Naval Memorial, disabled Veterans, and U.S.O.  Richard was preceded in death by his parents and stepsister (mentioned above).  He is survived by his devoted and beloved wife of 65 years, Olive J. (Warden) of Trafford.  Richard’s legacy survives through his two sons, Dale (Sandy) McCurdy of Greensburg, PA, and Keith (Cathy) McCurdy of N. Huntingdon, PA; as well as his one daughter, Lisa (Scott) Halas of Penn Township, PA.  Heartfelt remembrance of their “Pap-Pap” lives through his six grandchildren: Justin (Krista) McCurdy of Howell, MI, Alesha McCurdy of Pittsburgh, PA, Heather (Robert) Robson of Cranberry, PA, Keelan (Megan) McCurdy of Oakdale, PA, Brandon (Susannah-fiancée) Halas of Pittsburgh, PA, and Danielle Halas of Penn Township, PA.  He will also be remembered by his four great-grandchildren: Lillia, Sienna, Alaina and Caden.  Family and friends will be received from 2-4 & 6-8 PM on Friday in the John M. Dr. Jackson S. Pogue

Dr. PogueDr. Jackson S. Pogue age 100 passed away on his birthday Friday, January 17 2014.  Dr. Pogue was born on January 17, 1914 in Trafford the son of the late Frank Milton and Olive Georgiana (Study) Pogue.  Dr. Pogue graduated from Allegheny College and then graduated from the University of Pittsburgh Medical School.  He served in the US Public Health Service in Portland, ME from 1941 until 1945 and then was in private practice in Portland for five years.  Dr. Pogue returned home to Trafford to open his private practice in 1950 and served the residents of his home town until his retirement in 1996.  Dr. Pogue was a dedicated physician to the community of Trafford.  He was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church, Trafford.  Dr. Pogue was a humble man with a great sense of humor.  His hobbies included carpentry, model railroading, fishing and gardening, and he was a talented musician who loved to play the piano.  He was preceded in death by his wife Dolerus McMillen Pogue in 1996, his daughter Georgia Pogue in 1997 and two brothers James and Robert Pogue.  Dr. Pogue is survived by his children Janet McClelland (Rodney) of Mercer, Robert M. Pogue (Patricia) of Wheeling WV and David J. Pogue (Susan) of Level Green; 7 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. David B. Henderson

Henderson age 85 of Trafford passed away Saturday January 11, 2014 in his home.  He was born on March 3, 1928 in Trafford the son of the late Elmer and Mary Grace (Richards) Henderson.  David was a US Marine Veteran, a member of the Trafford American Legion Post 331, a retiree from the Union Railroad, and a member of the Level Green Presbyterian Church.  David was preceded in death by his siblings Robert, William, John, Milton, Warren, Elmer, Thomas Henderson, Laura Goss, Eunice Peters and Josephine Brown.  David is survived by his wife of 56 years Elizabeth Ann (Koepka) Henderson, his children Kimberly Ann Drapala (Bill) of Trafford, David Wayne Henderson (Wendy) of Irwin, Valerie Lynn McAteer (Ray) of Greensburg, and Daniel Henderson (Peggy) of Trafford; 10 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.  Family and friends will be received on Monday from 2-4 & 7-9 PM in the John M. Tulio “Bert” Bertonaschi

BertonaschiTulio “Bert” Bertonaschi age 92, of Trafford, peacefully in his sleep on Jan. 6, 2014. Born in Solignano, Italy, in 1921 as the youngest of four sons, “Bert” migrated to Blairsville, Pa., by way of Ellis Island in 1927. After graduating from Blairsville High School in 1940, he served in the Pacific during World War II, earning a Bronze Star Medal. In 1949, “Bert” married Catherine Banko, his loving wife of 60 years, and moved to Trafford in 1953, where he became best-known for his work as the region’s “Maytag Man”, providing decades-long maintenance and sales for locals’ washers and dryers. “Bert” later worked in maintenance at US Steel’s Research Center, and became a master gardener in his retirement. He is preceded in death by his wife Catherine and is survived by four caring sons and daughters:  Fran of Pittsburgh, PA,  Karen of Houston,TX,  Michael of Trafford, PA and Susan of Atlanta, GA; two envious grandchildren:  Adam and Ryan of Oakland, PA; two devoted in-laws: Maureen Bertonaschi and Mark Daniels, and numerous nieces and nephews.  Family and friends will be received from 2-4 & 7-9 PM Friday in the John M. Judy A. Burnett

Burnett, JJudy A. Burnett age 66 of Trafford passed away on Monday, January 6, 2013.  Judy was born in Greensburg the daughter of Steve Gasparovic and the late Barbara (Futscher) Gasparovic.  Judy was a member of the Level Green Presbyterian Church and she was an avid walker in both the Trafford BY and Irwin Parks.  In addition to her mother Judy was preceded in death by her husband Alan M. Burnett in 1993 and a brother Frank Gasparovic.  Along with her father Judy is survived by her children Denise Haralson (David), Alan M. Burnett Jr. (Marci Emahizer), and Jeffrey B. Burnett (Laura); her grandchildren David Haralson, Samantha and Jeremy Burnett; her five sisters Jane Fate, Linda Welker, JoAnn Turner, Lisa Gasparovic and Lori Ihrig. Louise M. (Kuzmic) Uselis age 74 of N. Versailles passed away on Christmas Day, Wednesday, December 25, 2013.  Louise was born on February 24, 1939 in Braddock the daughter of the late Michael and Frances (Yerecic) Kuzmic.  Louise was preceded in death by her husband Stanley Uselis, her brother Michael Kuzmic and her nephew Erik Kuzmic.  She is survived by her sisters- in-law Sandra Kuzmic and Anna Stephens (Tom), her niece Raquel Kuzmic, Tina Herrmann (Bill), Terry Faychak (Bob) and Ted Stephens (Julie), several great-nieces and nephews and many neighbors that were like her second family.  A private blessing service was held for the family followed by burial in the New St. Joseph Cemetery, N. C. David Endler

EndlerC. David Endler age 64 of Trafford, passed away on December 10, 2013 of Cholangiocarcinoma (Bile Duct Cancer). David was born in Spangler on January 3, 1949 the son of the late Clair and Elizabeth Ann Miller Endler.  David graduated from Cambria Heights High School and then served in the Army from 1967-1970 during the Vietnam War.  He continued his education from Cambria-Rowe Business College graduating in 1972. David married Ann Moyer Endler on September 22, 1973 for just over 40 years.  David worked as an auto garage manager up to his illness.  He enjoyed golf, landscaping, drawing, and spending time with his family. David is survived by his wife Ann; his two sons, Joseph (Arlinda) and James (Lisa) Endler;  his grandchildren Sean and Zachary Endler, a brother Theodore Endler (Alice); a brother-in-law Warren Angus and many loving nieces and nephews.  David was preceded in death by his sister Linda Angus. A funeral mass will be held at 10AM on Saturday January 4, 2014  in St. Regis Church, 517 Homewood Ave, Trafford with Fr. David Nazimek as celebrant with military honors to follow.  A memorial visitation will be held that Saturday from 1-3PM in John M. Agnes Zuzik

Zuzik 2Agnes Zuzik age 85 of Trafford passed away on Monday, December 23, 2013 in the William Penn Care Center, Penn Twp.  Agnes was born on July 8, 1928 in Trafford the daughter of the late Michael and Mary (Sorokach) Zuzik.  Agnes was a member of the St. Regis Church Trafford and its former Altar Rosary Society. Agnes retired from Kaufmans’s Department Store in Monroeville as a sales associate.  Agnes was preceded in death by her brothers Michael, John and George Zuzik and her sisters Helen Kudrick and Margaret E. Zuzik. Agnes is survived by her brother Albert “Bucky” Zuzik of Trafford and numerous nieces and nephews. Family and friends will be received on Friday from 2-4 & 6-8 PM in the John M. James Victor Knotts

KnottsJames Victor Knotts age 89 of Trafford passed away Saturday, December 7, 2013.  Jim was born on February 2, 1924 in Newburg, WV the son of the late Omer and Mildred (Funk) Knotts.  Prior to retirement Jim worked many years as a foreman at the Westinghouse Corp.  He was a member of the Ardara Presbyterian Church. He was a member of Masonic Lodge #613 F & AM in Turtle Creek, the Experimental Aircraft Assoc. and was a veteran of WWII serving with the US Army with the 98th Infantry Division.  He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years Veronica Susang Knotts; his daughter Darlene Knotts Geiger and son-in-law William Geiger, a grandson Richard James Brown, a granddaughter Darla Ann (Geiger) Corbin and his brothers Truman and Donald Knotts and a sister Dorothy (Knotts) Sinclair.  Jim is survived and will be lovingly remembered by his beloved fiancé Joan Shaw; his daughter Diane J. Knotts and son-in-law Richard of West Palm Beach, FL; his  granddaughters Charlene Miller (John) of Jupiter FL and Denise Suba (Craig) of Sewickley; seven great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.  Family and friends will be received on Tuesday from 2-4 & 6-8 PM in the John M.
