John F. “Jack” McCarthy

John F. McCarthy age 76 of Trafford died Thursday, May 10, 2012 in the Forbes Regional Hospital, Monroeville.  John was born on September 10, 1935 in Pittsburgh the son of the late John J. and Irene Bridge McCarthy.  John graduated from Turtle Creek High School, and attended Creighton College. John served with the US Army during the Korean War.  He was a former police officer for Trafford Boro then he worked for Westinghouse as a police officer and finally retired from Westinghouse as a General Manager after 37 years of service being in charge of several plants across the United States.  John was a member of the St. Regis Church in Trafford and was past president of its Parish Council.  He was a member of the AOH Division 17 of Monroeville and played shuffle board there every Tuesday and he loved spending time at his camp during the summer months.  John was preceded in death by his wife Helen Litwin McCarthy in 2008.  John is survived by his devoted children Beth Ann Brink (Jeff), John F. McCarthy Jr. (Valerie); he was the loving pap of Jeffrey David, Jack Dalton and Katie Edith McCarthy and brother of Tom McCarthy (Barbara), Gerry Churley (Allen), and Pat Atkins (Jim) and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.  Family & friends will be received from 7-9 PM on Sunday and 2-4 & 7-9 PM Monday in the John M. Frank W. Quear

Frank W. Quear age 85 of Trafford died Wednesday, May 9, 2012 in the Forbes Regional Hospital, Monroeville.  He was born on August 22, 1926 in Pittsburgh the son of the late Wilbert E. and Ida Francis Swaile Quear.  Frank was retired from Beckwith Machinery as a Mechanic Foreman.  He was a veteran of WWII and the Korean War serving with the United States Marine Corps as a SGT. While in the military his jobs were with demolition and intelligence.  He was preceded in death by his son Frankie Quear, and his brothers Gary and Dick Quear.  Frank is survived by his wife Martha Soles Quear, his children Bruce Quear and wife Patty, David Quear and wife Cheryl, Stella Ann McHenry and husband Jeff, Kimberly Dick and husband Tommy, Debbie LiVorio and husband Tony¸ Cindy Mahkovic and husband Sam; 16 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren; a brother Allen Quear and sisters Carol Godor, Wanda Slepsky Swartz, Betty Capets, Louella Miller and Brenda Gorski.   Family and friends will be received from 4-8 PM on Friday in the John M. Alice J. Lusher

Alice J. Lusher age 82 of Trafford died Sunday, May 6, 2012 in the Forbes Regional Hospital, Monroeville.  Alice was born on August 9, 1929 in Trafford the daughter of the late William and Agnes McCoy Schaab.  Alice was a member of the St. Regis Church Trafford, and it’s Charismatic Prayer Group at the church.  Alice enjoyed taking care of her kids and grandchildren.  Alice was preceded in death by her grandson Wyatt Samuel Lusher in 2000 and her brother Harry Schaab.  Alice is survived by her husband of 60 years Frank E. Lusher, her children Frank Lusher of Virginia Beach, VA, Nancy Mattucci of Irwin, Tom Lusher and wife Terrie of N. Huntingdon, Margaret Ocepek and husband Jon of Pittsburgh, William Lusher of Trafford and John Lusher and wife Michele of N. Genevieve G. Scott

Genevieve “Gee” Scott age 79 of Trafford died Sunday May 6, 2012 in the Forbes Regional Hospital Monroeville.  She was born in Pittsburgh the daughter of the late James and Genevieve Ryan Gray.  She grew up in the Shadyside section of Pittsburgh and graduated from Sacred Heart High School. Prior to retirement she worked for Sears in Greensburg. She was a member of the St. Regis Church Trafford. She enjoyed spending time with her family.  Her children and grandchildren were the light of her life.  She will be remembered by her family and friends for her smile, quick sense of humor and generosity. She was preceded in death by her son Jeffrey Scott and his wife Susan, and her brother James Gray.  She is survived by her husband of 54 years Joseph C. Scott, her children Pam Scott of Trafford and Fiance’ Tom Phalin, Joe Scott and wife Jane of Saginaw MI, Janet Jupena and husband Bruce of Level Green, Suzanne Kalna and husband Scott of West Newton, her grandchildren Joshua Scott, Virginia Genevieve “Ginny” Scott, Jordan, Jarad and Jevin Jupena, David Nichols, twins Wyatt and Chloe Kalna. Eileen Rodgers Valmassoni

Eileen Rodgers Valmassoni age 86 of Trafford died Friday, April 13, 2012 in the Harbour Senior Living in Monroeville. Eileen was born on May 28, 1925 in E. Pittsburgh the daughter of the late Raymond and Gertrude Ryan Rodgers.  Eileen retired from Westinghouse as a secretary and she was a member of the St. Regis Church Trafford.  Eileen is survived by her husband of 53 years Virgil Valmassoni; her daughter Sandra L. Edward A. Horvath

Edward A. Horvath age 88 of Trafford died Wednesday, April 11, 2012 in the Forbes Regional Hospital, Monroeville.  Edward was born on August 4, 1923 in McKeesport the son of the late Andrew and Margaret Snyir Horvath.  Edward retired from the Elliot Company in Jeannette after numerous years of service as a Mechanical Supervisor then started his second career as a Real Estate Agent with Howard Hanna for 20 years from 1985 until 2005.  Edward was a veteran of WWII serving with the US Navy and was a member of the St. Regis Church Trafford.  He was preceded in death by a brother William J. Horvath.  Edward is survived by his wife Josephine Ivicak Horvath, his children David A. Horvath and wife Tracey of Level Green, and Pamela J. Grace A. Kurtz

Grace A. Kurtz age 83 of Cavittsville (Trafford) died Wednesday, April 5 2012 in her home.  Grace was born on March 3, 1929 the daughter of the late Robert and Grace McCafferty Baker.  Grace was preceded in death by her husband Albert Kurtz, three brothers Melvin, Jim and John Baker and a sister Catherine Boyd.  She is survived by her children Alice Shipley, Albert Kurtz Jr., Grace Ann Vargo (Larry), Twins Mary Jane Kurtz and Marion Galzerano (Mark); six grandchildren John Kurtz, Allen Shipley, Kelly, Shelly, Randy and Jake Vargo; five great-grandchildren Makenzie Shipley, Sierra Wilson, Kiaura and Braiden Vargo and Elijah Cook and a sister Jane Gira.  Family and friends will be received from 2-4 & 6-8 PM on Good Friday in the John M. David S. Silvis

David S. Silvis age 65 of North Irwin died Friday April 6, 2012 in the Briarcliff Pavilion, N. Huntingdon. Dave was born on June 9, 1946 in Braddock the son of the late Peter and Georgia Rose Silvis.  Dave was a mechanic by trade and worked at the former Shaw’s Sunoco on Haymaker Road in Monroeville, was currently working as a Security Shift Supervisor for the Allegheny County Community College in Monroeville and he was a former firefighter for the Circleville Fire Dept.  Dave was preceded in death by a brother Don Silvis and two sisters Catherine Herbster and Lois King.  He is survived by his children Scott and Todd Silvis both of Florida and Lacey Beasley (Brandon) of Masontown; his four grandchildren who he adored Hunter, Joshua, Milena and Ryder; his brother Jack Silvis of N. George R. Pillar

George R. Pillar age 83 of Trafford passed away and went to be with his sweetheart Christine on Monday, April 2, 2012 in his home.  George was born on April 3, 1928 in Trafford the son of the late Joseph and Mary Muska Pillar.  George worked for Monroeville Brick and then was hired to work in the Westinghouse Printing in Trafford where he retired after many years of service.  He took pride in never missing a day of work. He was a veteran of the Korean War serving with the US Army in the 25th Infantry Division.  He was a member of the St. Regis Church in Trafford, Life Member of the NRA, Trafford and Pitcairn-Monroeville Sportsman’s Clubs, the American Legion Post #2 in E. Pittsburgh and the Irwin VFW Post #781.  In his younger life George enjoyed hunting and fishing. George was preceded in death by his wife Christine Belinsky Pillar in 2009, and his brothers and sisters Michael, John and Joseph Pillar, Anne Pillar, Mary Rozza and Mildred Kridlo.  George is survived by his son George R. Pillar Jr. (Terri) of Chambersburg and his three grandsons, who had great pride for, Kyle, Cole and Clay Pillar. Family and friends will be received from 2-7 PM on Saturday Only in the John M. Coletta N. Ruffo

Coletta N. Ruffo age 84 of Trafford died Sunday, April 1, 2012 in Hamilton Hills, Turtle Creek.  Coletta was born on December 21, 1927 in Turtle Creek the daughter of the late Milton and Agatha Wall Henkel.  Coletta retired from the former A&P Supermarkets.  She was a member of the St. Regis Church in Trafford. She loved to line dance and was active in volunteering in different Trafford Organizations.  While she was a student at Trafford High School she earned a letter for playing basketball.  Coletta was preceded in death by her husband Frank Ruffo, her daughter Karen Curry, two brothers Milton “Bud” and John “Jack” Henkel and her sister Cecelia Ammon.  Coletta is survived by her children Frank W. Ruffo and wife Linda and James J. Ruffo and wife Lisa all of Trafford; four grandchildren Melissa Beyer and husband Chris, Michael, Steffanie and Jamie Ruffo; two great-grandchildren Dominic and Francesca Beyer; and two brothers James Henkel of Allison Park and William Henkel of Las Vegas, NV and numerous nieces and nephews.   The Ruffo family would like to thank the staff at Hamilton Hills, Manor Care Monroeville and Heartland Hospice for the great care of their mother.  Family and friends will be received from 12-4 & 6-9 PM on Tuesday in the John M.
