Joan M. LaMarca age 78 passed away Wednesday, May 1, 2013 in the Woodhaven Care Center, Monroeville. Joan was born on September 13, 1934 in E. Pittsburgh the daughter of the late Peter and Mary Plecenik Spivak. Joan was a member of the St. Regis Church, Trafford. Joan is survived by her children, Deborah A. Comer (Tim) of Trafford, Karen Bianco (Ted) of Greensburg, Victoria LaMarca of Level Green, Linda DeMeo (Ken) of Plum, and Vincent LaMarca of Trafford; five grandchildren Marty Miller, Tracy Myers, Alyssa DeMeo, Tony & Andrea LaMarca; a great-grandson Anthony (Nino) Wright, and a brother Jeffrey Spivak of N. John Michael “Uncle John” Portik age 85 of Trafford passed away Sunday, April 28, 2013 in his home. John was born on March 8, 1928 in Trafford the son of the late Michael and Alice Fath Portik. John retired from Russell Standard, was a veteran of the US Army during the end of WWII and the Korean War, a member of the St. Regis Church Trafford, Lifetime member of the American Legion Post #331 Trafford and the Laborers’ International Union of North America Local #1058 Pittsburgh. John was preceded in death by a brother Harry Portik. He is survived by his sisters Julia Bayko with whom he lived with and Mary Chop of N. Braddock, a special niece who cared for him Julie Mellon and husband Greg and a nephew Stephen Bayko all of Trafford; a great-nephew and niece Michael (Amanda) Mellon and Caylyn Mellon and also survived by several other nieces and nephews. Joseph Anthony Kiren left his earthly tent to be welcomed home by Jesus Christ, his Lord and Savior on April 27, 2013. Joseph was born in Youngstown, Ohio on February 11, 1943, the son of the late Joseph L. and Theresa Ciccarelli Kiren. He leaves behind his wife Anne, son Joseph Colin of Wasilla, AK, and stepson Benjamin Heilman, of Kittanning. He is survived by his brothers William (Susan) Kiren of Greensburg, and John (Karen) Kiren of Vanderbilt, sisters Theresa (Paul) Austin, of Bowdoinham, ME and Frances Lynn (Don) Bartholomew, of Wyano, aunt, Rose Ciccarelli, of Youngstown, OH and many cousins, nephews and nieces. He graduated from Gateway High School, Monroeville, PA in 1961 and later joined the U. S. Air Force. He was a weapons mechanic assigned to RAF Bentwaters, England with temporary duty assignments at Wheelus AFB, Libya. After Joe was honorably discharged on February 23, 1966, he worked for Westinghouse Electric Corp. as a core builder at its East Pittsburgh location. He became paralyzed in 1972 when his motorcycle was forced off the road near Warren, PA. He became involved with the Tri-State Chapter of Paralyzed Veterans of America, serving in various offices until hired as the Chapter’s first Executive Director in 1988. He retired from the then renamed Keystone Chapter in 1999. During his tenure with TSPVA/KPVA, he worked enthusiastically to help its members, give presence to the organization, and encourage the establishment of the SCI Clinic at the VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System. He was on the board of Three River’s Center for Independent Living also. We are grateful to the many doctors and personnel at both the VAPHS and the Stokes VA Cleveland SCI Center for the care Joe received during the years he’s been paralyzed. Joe came out of retirement to work for Sam’s Club in Monroeville until he retired again in July, 2012. Joe attended Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, OK and Geneva College in Pittsburgh, pursuing a degree in Human Resource Management. He was a dedicated volunteer, not just for PVA and TRICL but also as a teacher’s aide and board member for Christian Fellowship Academy, as a prayer counselor for the 700 Club and CTVN, and performed in the music ministry at Cornerstone Ministries. We are grateful for the support we’ve had from our family and friends. In the past few years we’ve relied on the strong support and friendship of our fellow Christ-followers at Monroeville Assembly of God. Without them, this would have been a very lonely journey. Mary Jane Lloyd age 80 of Trafford passed away on Friday, April 26, 2013 in the Briarcliff Pavilion, N. Huntingdon. Mary Jane was born on September 20, 1932 in White Oak the daughter of the late John M. and Mary J. Smith Martin. Mary Jane retired from the Pennsylvania Railroad as an office worker, she was a devoted member of the Christian Life Church, Trafford, and formerly the organist for the Ardara Presbyterian Church. Mary Jane was preceded in death by her husband Donald E. Lloyd in 1994, her daughter Debra J. Lloyd in 2011, two brothers John H. and Samuel A. Martin and a sister Anna E. Sjoberg. She is survived by her two sons Lynn L. Lloyd and Robert Bruce Lloyd both of Mesquite, TX, three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; two brothers-in-law Al Sjoberg, Robert Lloyd and wife Jane and a sister-in-law Sophia Martin. Darlene K. Geiger age 69 of Ardara passed away Wednesday, April 10, 2013 in the Forbes Regional Hospital, Monroeville. Darlene was born on March 1, 1944 in Trafford the daughter of James Knotts of Trafford and the late Veronica Susang Knotts. Darlene was a member of the Ardara United Presbyterian Church and their Quilt Club, a volunteer for Habitat for Humanity serving as the Deck Boss and she loved animals, especially horses. Darlene was preceded in death by her husband William Geiger, and her daughter Darla Corbin. In addition to her father she is survived by her daughter Denise Suba and husband Craig of Sewickley, grandchildren Danielle and Dalton Shellgren, Caden and Cole Suba and her sister Diane Brown and husband Rich of FL. Michael E. Katinsky age 60 of Level Green died Friday, April 5, 2013. Mike was born on June 10, 1952 in Wilkinsburg the son of the late Michael and Catherine Bouch Katinsky. Mike was the owner of Complete Building Construction and the Roundtop Stables for over 30 years both in Level Green. He was a member of the Norwin Elks, the Buck and Bass Club and was an avid hunter, fisherman and outdoorsman. Mike is survived by his wife of 42 years Marcia Schweitzer Katinsky, his children Kerri Katinsky Simpson, Jason Katinsky, and Laura Katinsky and granddaughter Kaylee Simpson all of Level Green; a brother and three sisters Carl Katinsky and Doryce Gobble both of St. Louis MO, Cathy Denorsek of N. Francis J. “Bud” Murray Jr., 88, of Trafford passed away peacefully on Tuesday April 2, 2013 surrounded by his family. Bud was a devoted husband to Philomena Vaccaro for 61 years. He was preceded in death by his son, Thomas F. Murray. He is survived by three daughters, Kathleen Murray, Maureen Case, and Mariane Roach, ten grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; three sisters Tecky Vecchio (Joe), Marie Kuhns, and Margaret Murray and was predeceased by two sisters Elizabeth Mazur and Joann Green and he is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Bud was born and raised in Trafford. He was a member of St. Regis Catholic Church for 87 years, many of which were spent as an altar boy, a Veteran of WWII having proudly served his country in China with the 14th Air Force Flying Tigers of the US Army Air Corps. He worked at Trafford Post Office for 35 years, the last seven as Postmaster, before retiring in 1979. He was an avid sportsman who loved hunting and fishing and was a member of the Trafford Sportsman Club, the American Legion Post #331, holding the position of Chaplain for numerous years, and the Elks. Mary Drakulic age 95 of Penn Twp. formerly of Trafford passed away Sunday March 31, 2013 in the Forbes Regional Hospital, Monroeville. Mary was born on December 12, 1917 in Trafford the daughter of the late George and Susanna Savchak Kudrick. Mary was a member of the St. Regis Church, Trafford, an avid bingo player, Penguin Hockey Fan and enjoyed her many trips to Las Vegas and the local casinos. She will be sadly missed, but always remembered by her loving family and friends. Mary was preceded in death by her husband Dan (Mitch) Drakulic, her son Daniel and daughter-in-law Mary Anne Drakulic, her sister Ann Charnick and her brothers Michael, John, Steve, George and Andrew Kudrick. Mary Ann Yakubisin, age 83, of Trafford died Tuesday, March 19, 2013. Mary Ann was born on September 4, 1929, in Irwin. She was the daughter of the late Nicholas and Lucy Sowash Samery. She was a member of St. Regis Church, Trafford. Mary Ann was preceded in death by her loving husband of 64 years, Joseph, her son, John, two sisters, Martha Petrill and Margaret Cogar and a brother Nicholas Samery. Mary Ann is survived by her children, Joseph E.
